Mold Making High-Quality Molds for Consistent, Repeatable Jewelry Production
Vulcanized Silicone & Latex Molds For flat pieces such as buckles, pins, and pendants, we recommend vulcanized silicone rubber. It's a firm rubber and has a very smooth surface, which makes for a smoother injected wax pattern. For more intricate pieces such as fashion rings, complex bracelets, and any piece that has serious draft or undercuts, we use a latex based rubber that is more flexible while still having good memory. This means that the mold will fit together properly and allow the injected wax pattern to be removed without breaking it.
RTV Molds For pieces that cannot withstand heat, we use a liquid room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber for molding. Additionally, we also select this type of mold for very large pieces. It's a more labor intensive process, requiring the use of a vacuum chamber and if necessary, the fabrication of a custom built mold frame.
Lead Times Once we receive a master, we will begin the mold making process. For vulcanized molds, we typically have them molded within the day. RTV molds are usually ready within two days.
Pricing Mold pricing starts at $40 for Vulcanized Silicone Rubber and Latex Molds and $50 for RTV. The price may increase depending on the size and complexity of the piece.
Finishing Consistent, Clean, and Professional Results - Every Time
Cast and Clip We cast it, clip it off the tree, and ship it to you. Also includes stainless steel shot tumble upon request.
Mechanical Finish A mechanical finishing will achieve a bright smooth finish and is well suited for pieces that are antiqued (oxidized) and shiny. It is close to a hand buffed finish but not as mirrored.
Hand Finish We offer an exquisite hand finish. We have a complete finishing department which includes, split lap, tripoli, rouge, bead blast, and texturing.
Oxidizing We can oxidize any of our metals, and “cut them down” to achieve a dark finish in the recessed parts of the design of the piece.
Bead Blasting Creates a frosty, semi-iridescent finish on the metal.

Due to the nature of the casting process sometimes wax originals are lost in casting. Furthermore, waxes which are provided may have issues which we are not aware of and/or cannot fix, that in-turn, can cause casting failure. For these reasons RMW is not responsible for replacement costs of wax masters provided by customers. We are not responsible for damages to Pewter masters provided without notation. We strive for zero loss; however, Murphy and Lady Luck dip their hands into our operation on occasion.
